Controls

That's Not My Mom keeps its control scheme deliberately simple — the challenge in this game is observation, not input complexity.

  • Keyboard: move between rooms and approach objects or areas you want to inspect.
  • Mouse: control the camera to look around each room and examine details up close.
  • Interaction prompt: appears on screen when something can be examined more closely — use it when it shows up rather than guessing.
  • Sprint: used specifically during pursuit sequences to put distance between you and an active threat and reach an exit.

Keyboard and Mouse Only

Inputs are limited to keyboard and mouse, with subtitles available as the game's one listed accessibility option. There's no controller-specific input scheme to learn separately.

When Controls Actually Matter

For most of a visit, speed and precision aren't being tested — careful looking is. The one clear exception is during the active-threat days covered in the Surviving Chase Sequences guide, where movement and sprinting actually need to be quick rather than careful.

Outside of those pursuit moments, the controls in That's Not My Mom exist mainly to get you close enough to a detail to decide whether it's actually wrong.
